Tutorials Available

05 June 2009

Earlier this year I created some tutorials surrounding some of the technologies I’ve recently been interested in, namely emacs, clojure and android. At the time I was learning about emacs and muse which gave me some extra motivation to complete them. Since most of the tutorials were clojure related I also posted a couple of links in the clojure google group.

Well, it recently has since come to my attention that searching for “clojure emacs” on google ranks my tutorial 3rd. That is a bit surprising to me since I didn’t have a blog to promote their availability. Since then I’ve (somewhat begrudgingly) started a blog (on which you are reading the first post.)

The real reason for this initial step is to hopefully promote what is probably a better way to configue a clojure and emacs environment with slime/swank (boy, my family will sure be happy I’ve started a blog to help clear up the ol’ clojure/emacs/slime/swank thing ;-) Phil Hagleberg has created some tools which will not only help with the topic described above but which can also help with emacs configuration in general. His tutorial on the clojure-specific piece is located here: in which are found tricks of the trade concerning clojure authorship . Love the name. I have not personally used this approach (yet) but I’ve seen that others have with good success.

I’ve updated my tutorial on the topic to point to Phil’s post as a potential option. Hopefully my original approach still works as well with the current software packages.

Here is a list of the tutorials I’ve created to date:
